JR Delpero a toujours eu un lien avec l’art, même s’il a d’abord été professeur en oncologie. Pendant ses années de travail à l’hôpital, il a commencé à créer des masques vénitiens, attiré par leurs couleurs et contrastes, bien que ses enfants trouvaient ces œuvres un peu effrayantes. Un jour, un ami lui a offert une carte postale d’une œuvre de Nicolas de Staël, un véritable déclic pour lui. Cette rencontre artistique a donné une nouvelle direction à sa peinture, plus une révélation qu’une simple inspiration.

Au fil des ans, tout en continuant sa carrière médicale, son art a évolué. Il s’est tourné vers l’abstraction, utilisant des formats de plus en plus grands et travaillant sur de nouvelles toiles, notamment en lin. Ses expériences personnelles et son entourage ont aussi affiné son style.

JR Delpero has always had a connection to art, even though he initially worked as an oncology professor. During his years working at the hospital, he began creating Venetian masks, drawn to their colors and contrasts, though his children found these works a bit scary. One day, a friend gave him a postcard of a work by Nicolas de Staël, which was a real turning point for him. This artistic encounter gave his painting a new direction—more of a revelation than mere inspiration.

Over the years, while continuing his medical career, his art evolved. He turned to abstraction, using increasingly larger formats and working on new canvases, particularly linen. His personal experiences and the people around him also refined his style.
